12 Moments To Make Your Heart Swell And Your Eyes Tear Up

12 Moments To Make Your Heart Swell And Your Eyes Tear Up

We could all use a little bit of joy in our days. Maybe you've been feeling down or simply want to hear something good. These moments will make you believe in the good of the world. Many of them are bittersweet and make our hearts full of love, even though it might also make us feel a little sad. To see how bright the light shines, we need a little darkness.

1. True love can conquer anything.

"My parents have been married for 34 years. My mom is in the final stages of young-onset dementia (diagnosed 5 years ago at 53). My dad cares for her full-time. She doesn’t always remember his name but she knows she is safe with him. If that’s not true love, I don’t know what is."

2. This barber gives his clients a $2 discount if they read him a book while he cuts their hair.

It helps parents save a couple bucks and encourages kids with their reading.

3. When I was younger, if a kid had gay parents it was still a "big deal."

I love that the only thing this kid has to deal with is other kids not liking how well he can handle a joke.

4. My heart...

"So I came home from school to see my 7-year-old sister putting skittles with my antidepressants, I went up to her and asked 'Hey what you doing?' She looked at me, smiled and said 'Skittles make me happy so I put them with your medicine that makes you happy so you can be extra happy.' That was the cutest thing I’ve ever heard."

5. I'm not crying, you're crying.

We never know how much a small act of kindness can greatly impact someone's life. Because of some change, a man was able to say goodbye to his father.

6. Sebastian is afraid of eating alone.

To make sure he eats, his family puts his bowl on the table for every meal. He waits until they sit down before he starts eating, too.

7. A father's love is something that never fades.

"When I was two I gave my Dad a stuffed beluga whale to keep in his work bag so that if he ever missed me he could hold it and think of me. 18 years later, my Dad has just informed me he still brings my beluga whale to work with him every day."

8. It's the little things.

"Dude saw a little old lady was having trouble bagging some stuff so he stopped and held her bag open for her. Small act but man did it make my day...and yes I absolutely took a pic of 2 complete strangers."

9. A boy named Jamie was on his way to the store when he saw a man sitting on the edge of a bridge.

He asked the man if he was okay, which ended up saving his life. Three months later, Jamie got a call from the man saying that his wife was pregnant with a boy and they were naming him Jamie.

10. Howard Foster and Myra Clark were high school sweethearts.

They were forced to break up in the '60s because of their skin colors, but 40 years later they were reunited and finally got married.

11. Thank you to the people working tirelessly to make the world a better place and don't ask for recognition, even though they deserve it.

"Female chief in Malawi broke up 850 child marriages and sent girls back to school. Not all heroes wear capes."

12. Thirteen transport truck drivers parked their trucks side by side under a bridge to prevent someone from committing suicide.

It's moments like these that show the unity of humans when a life is at stake.
