In These Situations, DO NOT Use Apple Cider Vinegar

There’s no doubt, apple cider vinegar is one of the most common household ingredients. This is mainly due to the fact that its uses go beyond the kitchen. However, many take this kitchen item for granted and use it literally for everything, not even assuming that in some cases it can do more harm than good.

Here, we’ll list the situations when you should stay away from this natural remedy.

  •     Never use vinegar on waxed surfaces as its acidic property will only remove the wax. Your freshly polished car will immediately lose its shine. However, vinegar comes in handy if you want to remove an old layer of wax before you apply a fresh layer of polish.
  •     Don’t use vinegar for marble countertops or other stoneware, because it’ll make the stone pit and corrode.
  •     Sensitive screens like the one on your smartphone or laptop should never be cleaned with vinegar because it can stripe off the thin layer of oleo phobic coating they have, which reduces fingerprints and smudges.
  •     Also, avoid cleaning cast iron and aluminum with vinegar because they are reactive surfaces. When it comes to cleaning cookware, only use vinegar to clean pots and pans made of stainless steel or enameled cast iron.
  •     The combination of bleach and vinegar makes a dangerous mixture because it releases chlorine gas, the stuff used to clear the trenches in World War I.
  •     Vinegar should never be used for pest-infected plants. On the contrary, it makes the perfect weed killer.
  •     Should you ever become the victim of egging, don’t attempt to clean the egg residues with vinegar as it will cause the proteins in the egg to coagulate. This results in a gluey substance that’s much harder to remove.
  •     Even though vinegar is considered a great tool for removing mildew and mold, it actually removes only the surface mils. The thing is, most molds go deeper than what you see on the surface, so the best solution is to deep clean their source.
