When This Server Received No Tip For A Bill Over $100, She Decided To Speak Up

Being a server is no easy task. Anyone who has been in the industry can attest to that.
One of the most deflating things that can happen to a server is not receiving a tip for their service. Servers usually make below minimum wage and often rely on tip money as their actual payment. It’s the money they use to pay bills and buy necessities.
When this server received absolutely no tip for a large bill, she had something to say about it.

Taylar Cordova is a hardworking mother.

She works as a server to provide for her daughter. As any parent knows, balancing both family and work life is a hard task. It's even harder when you are living on a low minimum wage and are not sure how much money you will bring home that evening.

So when Taylar didn’t receive a tip for a bill worth $187.43...

...she wasn’t happy. Rather than stand idly by and do nothing about the situation, Taylar decided to stand up for herself, as well as for other people in the service industry.

She posted her customer's bill on Facebook as well as this message.

Taylar writes about the burden it places on servers and their families when they make such low wages and do not receive a tip. She states that it affects the groceries they can buy, the bills they can afford to pay, and the clothes she can put on her daughter's back.
"Servers are paid a base pay of $2-5/hr depending on the employer, so next time you don't want to tip, regardless of the situation prior to receiving your bill, think about how much you would have to work that week off $2-5/hr to feed your family, not just you," wrote Taylar.

Anyone who has been in the service industry knows how tough it can be.

Those who have not waited on tables cannot truly understand Taylar's struggles. However, anyone with kids can relate to trying to provide for yourself and your children, a message that clearly resonated with both servers and non-servers alike. Her post has been liked 14,000 times and shared over 12,000 times.
The debate of whether servers deserve tips regardless of the service they provide will always be a controversial one, but Taylar has made a very important point through her post.
