12 Life Hacks You'll Wish You Knew Yesterday

It's always nice when someone gives a small, helpful suggestion that completely changes the way you do something and makes life easier. They don't have to be groundbreaking on a large scale, but if a quick tip can better your daily routine or solve a persistent dilemma you've been dealing with, then it's totally worth it. I come across hacks every day and I thought I would share a few of my most recent favorites with you in a lovely list. Check them out below and let me know if any have worked for you!

1. Prevent Rust Stains On Your Tub

If you keep a can of shaving cream or any other product in a similar container on the edge of your tub, apply a layer of clear nail polish around the bottom rim to prevent rust.

2. Bring Trick Candles On A Camping Trip

Having a set of trick candles on your birthday cake may be annoying, but having them while camping can be a lifesaver! If it's windy and the candle blows out while you're working on your fire, it will relight itself.

3. Use Lemonade Kool-Aid To Clean Your Dishwasher

This flavor is the only one that will rid your dishwasher of lime deposits and iron stains. Simply run an empty dishwasher through a regular cycle, but substitute detergent with lemonade crystals. The citric acid in the Kool-Aid wipes out stains with ease.

4. Clean Up Paint With Facial Cleanser Wipes

We all make mistakes, especially when it comes to painting. If you happen to slip up and get paint on an unintended surface, test a small area with a facial wipe. If there aren't any negative side effects, use them to clean the rest of the mess. The alcohol softens latex paint, but doesn't harm most surfaces.

5. Keep Mosquitoes Away With A Fan

Sometimes, all you ever want to do is sit outside on a nice, summer's eve and relax, but mosquitoes have a different agenda. To keep them away without bug spray, grab a small fan and aim it where you are sitting. Their weak little wings won't be able to handle it!

6. Use A Screwdriver As A Temporary Funnel For Engine Oil

This a a quick and easy fix for anyone who doesn't want to make a mess while tending to their vehicle.

7. Store Medication In A Daily Pill Box

This is a great space saver if you're short on storage in your bathroom. It's also great for travelling!

8. Remove Dirt From Suede Shoes

A nail file is tough, but gentle enough to clear up small messes on your favorite pair of suede pumps.

9. Keep Matching Sheets Together

Simply tuck the sheets inside one of its corresponding pillowcases. Never lose track of your favorite set again with this handy storage hack.

10. Prevent Ice Cream From Leaking Through A Cone

Stuff a marshmallow into the bottom of a cone to prevent any unnecessary mess as you enjoy your ice cream. It's also a tasty treat you can enjoy at the end!
