This Guy's 'OK' Reply To A Date Has Given Us An Entire Debate About Enthusiastic Texting

This Guy's 'OK' Reply To A Date Has Given Us An Entire Debate About Enthusiastic Texting

By now, I'm sure we're all familiar with how hard it is to convey tone and/or inflection in our texts. It is, unfortunately, one of the downsides of the communication medium, but hey, that's what emojis are for, right?
But for 25-year-old Troy G. from Washington, DC, being caught off guard first thing in the morning kicked off a debate on the subject that's lasted a few months now. It all started when a woman he was seeing asked him out, and he simply replied with "Ok."

Here's the convo that started this whole ordeal:

So, obviously, this spawned the question of whether this response is "okay" in and of itself. Is it fair to deny a date for having an unenthusiastic reply? Do we take sympathy on someone who just woke up? I mean, he laid it on pretty strong after she canceled, but do we blame him?

The best part of this exchange is all the responses coming in about it — there's definitely a heated debate to be had!

Some thought it was definitely not cool.

Others thought they should give the sleepy dude a break!

But is that really an excuse? Not everyone thinks so.

It should be exciting, right?

But we all know how hard it is to say what we really mean in a text, and waking up is hard to do.

We can definitely work this out.

But hey, I'm no morning person either!

However, a little effort does go a long way.

So what do you think? Should he have gotten a little more into it, at least? Is the whole, "first thing in the morning" defense enough? The debate still rages on, so let us know what you think in the comments and let's see if we can't figure this out!
