16 Random Grocery Store Items That'll Solve Your Biggest Skin Problems

Our skin can sometimes suck...like, a lot. 
And for those of us who weren't blessed with perfect skin, it can feel impossible to keep it clear. I swear, I have tried everything
So when you feel like you've run out of options, sometimes it's best to go back to what is most natural. 
You may be surprised with how effective some natural ingredients are in improving our skin. Here are a few remedies for your skin problems that you may not know about! 

1. Bring on the honey because I don't want anymore zits! 

Honey was used to heal wounds in the past. It has antibacterial properties which can help combat the bacteria that creates acne! It's best used as a spot treatment overnight. 
I'll take some honey on my face and in my tea, please. 

2. Lemon juice is a great method for fighting off acne that is picking up popularity. 

The acidity in lemon juice can fight off the bacteria in acne, but only apply to acne affected areas because it is strong! Who said there is anything wrong with a little sourness? 

3. Mixing thyme and baking soda to make your own blemish balm is a great way to fight off pimples. 

The two mixed together make a strong duo to fight off those horrid blemishes. Put the mixture on acne areas for 10 minutes, and then wash off! See the recipe here. 

4. Avocados are forever our best friends, especially when they also serve as skin care remedies.  

You may not have known, but avocados work great at hydrating skin. Make your own avocado face moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated! 

5. Do you have an oily skin problem? Because same. Apparently, oatmeal is the fix! 

Trust me, I hear you. Oily skin is the worst! Oatmeal mixed with some hot water and honey is a great way to exfoliate and strip some excess away — no more oily skin, just smooth perfection!

6. Want a simple way to fight off oily skin? Make sure you drink more water! 

Your skin will produce more oil if you're dehydrated, so make sure you're drinking lots of water. Quench your thirst and fight off oils at the same time. 

7. Another great remedy for oily skin is an egg white and lemon face mask. 

Egg whites and lemon juice is known to make pores smaller and help absorb oil. This sounds like a major win to me! Time to stock up on some eggs. 

8. Apple cider vinegar is the key to killing bacteria on the surface of your skin. 

A great way to use it is to apply it like a toner before bed or in the morning. It can help prevent future breakouts and kill off ones that are already on the skin. 

9. Banana is great for masks, but many say the banana peel is great for fighting existing breakouts. 

This looks super weird, but it works! Instead of trashing that peel, use it on any pimples you have lingering. Just rub for five minutes or until the inside gets brown. After, let the banana dry, and then rinse with lukewarm water. 

10. Got a dry skin problem? Coconut oil is your new best friend. 

Apparently, coconut oil has emollient properties. These smooth your skin cells and reduce the look of dryness. Rub that stuff everywhere! 

11. Try relieving your skin with your own DIY apple and wheat germ face mask! 

Apples contain vitamin c, which is known to help with skin reproduction. Wheat germ can help improve the look of aging. Mix apple sauce with wheat germ to make the face mask. 

12. I hope you love blueberries if you have dry skin, because eating them can make it plump and juicy! 

Your skin gets dry when it gets damaged, but blueberries contain antioxidants to help fight toxins that hurt your skin cells. So, eating blueberries can help you skin become stronger! What a yummy solution!

13. Is your dry skin making you super itchy? Try using milk!

Dr. Taylor says that applying a washcloth soaked with milk on dry, itchy spots for ten minutes is the trick. This is because milk has anti-inflammatory properties. Anyone got milk! Oh, and you can use a banana peel, too! 

14. Aloe vera, the remedy to my burnt skin in the summer and my dry patches.  

Apparently, combining a topical acne gel with aloe vera makes it more effective! Mayo Clinic suggests applying it in the morning and evening to help reduce dryness. 

15. Exfoliating your skin can feel really good, so make your own exfoliating tomato mask!  

Your own DIY tomato and sugar mask can help reduce aging skin and deeply clean the skin, too. I may not like eating them, but if they keep me young then why not! 

16. Drink up! Green tea has a surprising amount of health benefits that'll keep your skin happy. 

Not only will it keep you hydrated, but you can use it as a toner or a mask to improve complexion, fight acne, signs of aging, and reduce dark circles and puffy eyes.
