Best Kannada Movies To Watch When You're Bored

Best Kannada Movies To Watch When You're Bored

I know sometimes I feel like I really want to watch a movie but don't know of anything good to see! Here's a list of films that might be interesting for you.

Mayabazar 2016

Best Kannada Movies

An honest police officer and a small-time conman end up crossing paths at a time when the two are in dire need of money. When more characters enter the scene, confusion and chaos ensues.

One of the plus points of the film is its set of oddball characters, each facing a personal crisis. The narrative woven around the needs of these people and the subsequent roadblocks they face makes for a fun ride. The humour is subtle and leaves you laughing. The casting is pretty much spot on.

Mayabazar 2016 is definitely one of the better comedies that has come out in recent times and you must try this. Its availble in Amazon Prime go check it out

Malgudi Days

Best Kannada Movies

Prakruti is a young IT analyst who's annoyed with her boss constantly making passes at her. Ageing author Lakshminarayana Malgudi, has just announced his retirement, and following his wife's demise, his kids are pressuring him to move to America, to live with them. The two are at flight risk, and a chance meeting makes them embark on a road trip to Malgudi, together.

The fresh storyline and unconventional protagonists make this tale a refreshing experience. The lead characters, Vijay Raghavendra as Lakshminarayana Malgudi and Greeshma Shridhar as Prakruti, shine in their roles.

Love Mocktail

Best Kannada Movies

A story with the protagonist going on a nostalgic trip and recollecting his tryst with love (in this case, multiple times) is a theme that the audience is familiar with. This style of narrative always offers more scope on the canvas for filmmakers.

Lead actor Krishna, who debuts as director with this film, has done exactly that and hits the right notes. The film is soulful, fresh and has enough situations that someone can relate too. The film, which is nearly two and a half hours long, might seem to lag at times, but it definitely has enough content and heartwarming scenes to pull one back into the narrative.

Love Mocktail is not a story that has never been seen before. But it is this familiarity in the narrative that makes it seem so affable. This one is definitely worth that trip to the cinema hall if you're a fan of romance or nostalgia.

KGF

Best Kannada Movies

Rocky is an ambitious boy, who wants to die as the richest and most powerful man. From the streets of Bombay to the fields of KGF, he embarks on the mission. And his tale is being retold by a journalist who chronicled his life in the 1980s.

The narrative in the first part builds the character of Rocky as the maverick mastermind who will not stop for anything until he reaches his mission. While there is a sense of temporary closure in the first chapter of the film, one also leaves the hall yearning for more. KGF surely seems to have delivered what it set to achieve.

KGF is going to release by 2021 probably

Dia

Best Kannada Movies

KS Ashoka debuted with the surprise hit 6-5=2. This time, he moves to a completely new genre - romance. Like Gantumoote, this one too showcases a love story through the eyes of its titular protagonist Dia. The story unfurls at its own pace and has the right twists at the right time. The tale is heartwarming, leaves you misty eyed and has its soul in place.

Given that a tale like this requires performances that lift the tale, the three young actors live up to the challenge. Pruthvee Ambar, especially, deserves a special mention as he lights up the screen, reminiscent of a young Kamal Haasan. There's also an endearing mother-son sentiment track that involves Pavithra Lokesh, and she does a fine job too.
